In the cold wintery months I stumbled upon punch needling. I was thinking hard about a birthday present for one of my friends and was dealing with some stress at the time. Punch needling seemed super relaxing and meditative through its repetition, so I gave it a try and have created a few projects with it!
These are the projects I'm most proud of! The challenging part of creating a pillow out of a punch-needled piece of fabric is that the fabric is quite thick, and you need to keep the multiple fabrics as close to the needle as possible when sewing a pillow case around it! In the Cafe By Night pillowcase, I also inserted a zipper to finish off the pillow even cleaner. Also, a tip for dummies as myself: draw your final picture mirrored, as you are punching on the back side of the piece, then turning it around. I made this mistake once (and never again), it led me to removing 1 hour of punched needling! Oops..
