During 2017-2018, I was chief of activities of the technical faculty of the Radboud University Nijmegen. It entailed hosting big activities, such as the bimonthly ''BeestFeest'' for around 1000-1500 people. While the party was popular and well-known, their was no real design identity. Since I love Photoshopping, I decided to take on the challenge!
For each edition of BeestFeest, the party committee would hang up posters and distribute stickers to promote the upcoming party. Previous posters were printed on A3 format and were not very vibrant and did not follow a certain style that would make them easily recognisable. I changed this during my board year. We started printing the posters on A2 format and a template was created. It is a template that's easy on the eyes, but still leaves a lot of room to experiment with the big ''BeestFeest'' letters and background. Up to this day (writing: 2021), the template of my BeestFeest posters is still being used, which is really cool!
Being chief of activities was a great experience that taught and improved many skills of mine. The designing part of it was only small: much more time went into communicating and arranging of the activities. This party required good relationships with DJ's, volunteers, the organisation of the location. It also required social media management and promotion. And on the night itself, it required keeping everything under control and feeling like a boss, running around with a walkie talkie. I loved it!
