Key work

In the spring of 2022, I was invited to a wedding in Chile. Having never been in South America before, let alone a wedding, I was incredibly excited to go! And because I couldn't contain my excitement, I channeled it into a quite ambitious project: creating the whole look all by myself, except for the shoes! This meant I used my clay skills for rings and earrings and sewing skills for a top, trousers, a (fake) leather bag and a blazer.

A collection of all things that were created for this outfit. Only the shoes were bought (I'm not at that level (yet...))
Method
The full completed outfit.

I used a dark blue satin - which apparently was even called ''bridal satin'' , the lady in the store told me - for the trousers and top. The trousers were big and flowy, the top tight and open in the back to balance the outfit out. The blazer was made with a thick beige linen so it wouldn't wrinkle easily. The lining of the blazer was made with the backside of the dark blue satin, so it wouldn't be overly shiny.

As for the jewelry, I tried out a ''marbling'' effect for the first time for the earrings. This meant mixing white acrylic paint, gold leaf, translucent clay and white clay in different proportions. I love how some parts of the earring are a little bit see through and how it really got a marbling effect! Furthermore, I experimented with ''inlays'' for the first time - empty rings that I could then fill with my clay creations. I created a turqoise stone, a black and white tortoise shell effect and a checkered goldish/white pattern.

Lastly, the bag was the finishing touch. The choice of brown fake leather matched the beige and blue perfectly in my opinion. Add on top of that a red lipstick, and I was all set!

It took about 3 months to create the whole outfit and I was more than ready to wear it. But as it turnt out... I got COVID. So while I made it to Chile, I unfortunately had to skip the wedding.... The same thing happened to me a second time, when I wanted to wear it to another party! However, the third time was a charm and I got to wear it to the wedding party of a great work colleague of mine. Hallelujah! The curse was lifted.
